A single red chilli, set against a bright blue background. Simple enough on paper, but Dripping Chilli has a real kick to it. The chilli itself is rendered clean and graphic, all bold colour and confident shape, in that pop art style that runs through the whole Good Taste series. But look closer and you’ll spot the drips: small runs of paint breaking out from the edges of the chilli, gently disrupting its outline and giving the whole piece a sense of movement, like the image itself is a little too hot to stay still. It’s a brilliant example of Day-z’s push and pull between control and spontaneity; a perfectly clean composition that’s been allowed to get just a bit loose round the edges.
