After the Rain is a large-scale handwoven textile work inspired by the changing colours, contours and weather of the landscape.

Created intuitively using roving merino wool and T-shirt yarn tassels, the composition develops through undulating layers of deep green, blue, soft grey and white, interrupted by vivid flashes of orange, pink and red. The woven lines shift and curve across the surface, suggesting hills, waterways and changing horizons without depicting one particular place.

Small bursts of fluorescent pink appear unexpectedly throughout the work, bringing moments of intensity to the more natural landscape palette. Changes in the weight, direction and density of the wool create a deeply tactile surface, allowing light and shadow to become part of the composition.

Often described as painting with yarn, the practice involves no predetermined pattern - instead, colour, texture and the direction of each line guide the piece as it develops. The landscape is a starting point rather than something to be reproduced.

Long strands of soft grey fabric fall freely from the woven section, extending the work beyond its traditional rectangular form. Suggestive of rainfall, water or mist, they introduce movement and contrast with the dense, sculptural quality of the wool above.

Suspended from simple copper rails, After the Rain explores landscape as something continually changing - shaped by water, weather, colour and the experience of moving through it.
