Day-Z

Good Taste takes the things you’d find in any kitchen, corner shop or seaside chippy and turns them into bold, graphic paintings that are impossible not to smile at. This is Day-z’s new series, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a celebration of the everyday things we love, painted with serious skill and a great sense of fun. Punchy colour, playful subjects, and a level of craft that rewards a closer look.

Good Taste is a new collection of original paintings by London-based artist Day-z, a Central Saint Martins graduate and winner of the Derwent Art Prize People’s Choice Award. Painted in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, the series takes everyday food and drink - a banana, a chilli, a 99p ice cream cone, a fried egg, a tube of lipstick - and turns each one into a bold, graphic piece of contemporary art. Day-z is known for blending hyper-realistic drawing and painting techniques learned from the classical masters with the bright, punchy visual language of street art and advertising, often layering textures built from moulding paste alongside smooth, glossy paint, and using drips and imperfections to bring a sense of movement and spontaneity to otherwise clean compositions. At the heart of the collection is a three-part series - Ripe, Ripe 2 and Ripe 3 - following a single banana as it gradually transforms, a playful exploration of ripening, change and decay that echoes throughout the wider series. The collection ranges from small, accessible pieces from £120 to larger statement works, all unframed and ready to hang or frame to suit your space. Every piece comes with a certificate of authenticity. For collectors of pop art, contemporary British painting, or anyone looking for a piece of original art that brings colour, humour and genuine craft into a room, Good Taste is for you.
